François-Xavier Poizat is as charming and personable as can be. He’s also one of the rising stars of the piano. A Geneva native, Mr. Poizat just completed his first Carnegie Hall recital (December 2018) to great acclaim – needless to say, the recital was sold out and he received a standing ovation.
Equally comfortable with Liszt, Chopin, Gershwin, and Shostakovich, young Mr. Poizat is also passionate about orchestral transcriptions for piano, is a jazz lover and doesn’t shy away from improvising on popular standards. An exceptionally gifted pianist, his journey has taken him from Geneva to Hamburg, New York, and Rome. Along the way, he has won countless international prizes and performed in over 26 countries across Europe, Asia, and America.
Highly sought as a chamber musician, he has also performed under the baton of the best conductors, such as Neeme Järvi.
Beside his principal activity as a performer, he is currently the director of the International Puplinge Classique Festival in Geneva, a position he has held for the past 8 years, and has recorded 4 CDs with the Naxos, Ars Produktion and Piano Classics labels.
